Two scholarships created to honor former UMW football player Zac Marold

Zac MaroldThe University of Montana Western in conjunction with Frank Marold is pleased to honor Zac Marold through the establishment of the Zac Marold Memorial Scholarship at The University of Montana Western Foundation in Dillon, Mont.

Marold was a linebacker on the Montana Western Bulldog football teams of 2007 and 2008.
One scholarship will be available in the amount of $1,000 and the other in the amount of $500. The initial scholarship will be awarded for the 2009 – 2010 academic and then awarded annually in memory of Marold.

The recipient of a Zac Marold Memorial scholarship must be a full-time student enrolled in good standing. Also, the recipient must be a current student-athlete who exhibits profound improvement in their field of study, inspires and motivates their teammates, is a natural team leader and mentors underclass teammates.

Each year, the scholarship recipient will be chosen by Frank Marold, the Montana Western coaching staff and the Montana Western scholarship committee.

The initial scholarships will be awarded September 5, 2009 during half-time of the University Montana Western vs. Montana Tech football game. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Vigilante Field in Dillon, Mont. During the ceremony Marold’s football jersey (#51) will be retired into the Montana Western P.E. Complex.
