Montana Western and Women’s Resource Center Invite Anonymous Survivor Stories for “After the Quiet”

The University of Montana Western and the Women's Resource Center (WRC) are partnering to present "After the Quiet", a community monologue production that explores life after leaving domestic violence. As part of the project, survivors are invited to anonymously share their experiences to help shape the performance.

After the Quiet will feature original monologues inspired by the lived experiences of survivors, highlighting both the challenges and resilience that follow leaving an abusive relationship. Through stories of healing, hope, and personal growth, the production aims to increase awareness, foster empathy, and encourage meaningful conversations about the lasting impacts of domestic violence.

Survivors are encouraged to submit an original, anonymous monologue centered on a single meaningful moment, event, or experience from their journey after leaving an abusive relationship. Rather than recounting an entire life story, submissions should focus on one experience that reflects an important aspect of healing or growth. All submissions will remain anonymous and will be thoughtfully reviewed for possible inclusion in the production.

“After the Quiet is about creating space for survivor voices to be heard,” said Izzi Simonsen, Programs Manager at the Women’s Resource Center. “By sharing their experiences, survivors can help educate our community, reduce stigma, and remind others that they are not alone.”

The University of Montana Western and the Women’s Resource Center hope the production will inspire greater understanding of domestic violence while recognizing the courage and resilience of survivors as they rebuild their lives. The production will be presented on November 2 and 3 in UMW’s Beier Auditorium.

Survivors interested in contributing are invited to submit their stories anonymously through the After the Quiet submission form.
