UMW Hosts Indian Education for All Events and Flag Ceremony Community Gathering

Indian Education for All Presentations- 10:00 a.m. and 11:20 a.m.

Mike Jetty, Indian Education for All (IEFA) Specialist from the Montana Office of Public Instruction, will provide a general IEFA presentation for the campus and community on Friday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the Beier Auditorium in Main Hall, followed by an IEFA session for UMW faculty at 11:20 a.m. in the Model Classroom. 

Jetty is an enrolled member of the Spirit Lake Dakota Nation and a Turtle Mountain Chippewa descendant. He is currently working at the Montana Office of Public Instruction as an Indian Education Specialist. Jetty has been working with Indian Education issues for the past 28 years and has teaching experience at both the K-12 and University level. He has a B.S. in History Education, a Master’s in School Administration and an Education Specialist Degree. In addition to his work with K-12 education, he is an active member of the American Indian and Minority Achievement Council for the Montana University System.

Flag Ceremony Community Gathering- 1:00 p.m. 

Montana Western’s Office of Student Success and American Indian and Minority Achievement (AIMA) Committee invites the campus and community to a flag ceremony event, on Friday, April 14 at 1:00 p.m., at the Legacy Plaza on the UMW campus.

Special guests from the Blackfeet Nation will present Montana Western with a Tribal flag to be displayed in the Keltz Arena.

All are welcome and invited to attend and light refreshments will be served.
