BULLDOG STADIUM PHASE II

When Bulldog Stadium opened in Fall 2024, it marked a milestone for Montana Western—a bold new home where students, athletes, alumni, and the community could gather in pride. But the true vision of Bulldog Stadium is still ahead of us. Phase Two is where we transform this facility from a venue into a championship experience.

Phase Two will bring:

  • Championship-caliber spaces for student-athletes: modern locker rooms, a dynamic team room, and an officials’ room that meets collegiate standards—spaces that nurture preparation, unity, and pride.
  • A better game-day experience for fans and families: finished concessions, restrooms, and upgraded visitor bleachers to welcome every guest in comfort.
  • Accessibility and connection: paved parking lots for safer, easier access, and a “Champions Walk” that links campus to the stadium, celebrating the tradition and spirit of Bulldog athletics.
  • Community impact beyond the field: stadium lighting to host evening games, high school tournaments, and special events that will bring people to Dillon, energize local businesses, and make Bulldog Stadium a true hub for Beaverhead County.

Your support makes you a builder of experiences—for our student-athletes who dream of competing at the highest level, for students and families who find community on game day, and for a region that thrives when people gather here. Together, we can create a stadium that not only rivals our peers but also becomes a source of pride and connection for generations.

Year 1 Impact

  • Montana Western hosted five regular season home games in Bulldog Stadium, plus two playoff games - the first time in university history a playoff game was played on campus.  The Bulldogs finished the season 10 -2 overall and 7-1 in conference play, winning the Frontier Conference title for the second consecutive year.
  • Ticket Sales soared from an average of $20,000 annually (over the previous 4 years) to $72,000 for the five regular season games and $42,482 for the two playoff games – totaling just over $114,000, a 400% + increase in the first year.
  • The UMW Bookstore saw merchandise sales jump an average of $9,000 per season (previous four years) to just over $40,000 in the 2024 season, a 300% + increase.
  • Montana Western partnered with local vendors in order to provide concessions and beverages, allowing UMW to earn a share of profits while also promoting local businesses and generating additional income for them.
  • Stadium attendance climbed from an average of 6,000 visitors annually to just over 10,000 – an additional 4,000 people visiting this region spending money in local restaurants, hotels and retail stores.
  • For the first time ever, UMW graduation was held outdoors in the stadium, accommodating every guest who wanted to attend without limiting tickets for graduates.

Montana Western has been fortunate to have some legendary coaches at the helm of the Bulldog Football program. We are grateful for the impact these coaches have had on so many young people. They are behind this project, not only because they understand the impact it will have on football, but because they know it will be a resource for Montana Western and the Greater Dillon community.
