The University of Montana Western Foundation exists to inspire generosity and connect donors with their passions in order to promote access and excellence in higher education at the University of Montana Western.
Guided by this mission, the Montana Western Foundation fosters strong relationships with donors and alumni, provides critical scholarship support for students, and advances key academic programs and capital projects throughout the university.
About the Montana Western Foundation
Founded in 1978, the Foundation serves as Montana Western’s philanthropic partner—connecting the generosity of alumni, friends, and community supporters with the university’s most pressing priorities. Through private support, the Foundation helps expand access to education, enhance the student experience, and ensure Montana Western continues to thrive.
The Foundation and Alumni offices are intentionally housed together to create a seamless, relationship-centered approach to engagement and stewardship. This integrated model allows us to better serve our alumni, honor donor intent, and build lasting connections that benefit students and the broader community.
Philanthropy plays a critical role at Montana Western. Many of our students are first-generation, rural, or from modest financial backgrounds, and scholarship support is often the catalyst that makes higher education possible. Donor generosity also fuels innovative programs, experiential learning, and campus spaces that serve both the university and the region.
Guided by a commitment to student success, stewardship, integrity, and impact, the Montana Western Foundation works every day to ensure that private support creates meaningful and lasting change.
We invite you to connect with us and be part of shaping the future of Montana Western.
