Bio of Margaret Orr
Margaret was born to Lee and Bertha Reece on March 30, 1906, in Albany, Missouri. She was eight years old when the family moved to Dillon. She graduated from Beaver head County High School and received her teaching credentials, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from Western Montana College. She also attended the University of Utah and the University of Illinois. After teaching in Glasgow and Bozeman, she married Irving Orr of the P&O ranching family in 1930 and spent the next ten years on the home ranch on the Black- tail. Returning to teaching in Lima and Helena, she then taught third grade in Dillon for over twenty years until her retirement in 1970. During her teaching career, Orr was honored with membership in the Montana Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teachers' sorority. In May of 1998, she received a special certificate for Distinctive Professional Service in the field of Education in recognition of 54 years of active membership and service to Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Margaret R. Orr, a long time Dillon resident, died in Anaheim, California, on May 3, 1999, at the age of 93
